FAQs

Yes, a valid passport is required for all international travelers. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date and have at least two blank pages. Citizens of the US, Canada, UK, and EU do not need a visa for tourist stays under 90 days.

Tip: Be sure to fill out the Electronic Regional Traveler Sworn Declaration (DJRV) online before arriving!

You will fly into La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City. It is the closest international airport to our wedding festivities.

Antigua is about 15 to 25 miles from the airport. Because of local traffic, the drive typically takes between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Our Recommendation: We highly recommend booking a private shuttle or taxi ahead of time.

Uber/Taxis: Ubers and official airport taxis are also readily available at the terminal.

Yes! We have secured room blocks at several hotels at discounted rates. To book, please use the links in the Travel & Stay section above.

Note: Please book your room by November 2026 to ensure availability and the discounted rate.

April brings some of the most beautiful weather of the year to Antigua! Expect long, sunny days with clear views of the surrounding volcanoes. Daytime highs average around 78°F to 82°F. Due to Antigua's high altitude, the temperature drops comfortably into the 58°F to 62°F range once the sun sets.

Most major carriers offer international roaming passes (like AT&T/Verizon day passes) that work seamlessly in Guatemala. Alternatively, you can look into an eSIM (like Airalo) for data. Wi-Fi will be available at the hotel and all wedding venues.

The official currency is the Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ).

Cards: Credit cards are widely accepted in most hotels, upscale restaurants, and shops in Antigua.

Cash: It is a good idea to carry a small amount of cash (Quetzales) for street vendors, small markets, or tips. You can exchange money at the airport or use local ATMs in Antigua. US Dollars are sometimes accepted, but small, crisp bills are required.

It is recommended that travelers do not drink the tap water in Guatemala. Stick to bottled water, which will be provided abundantly at the hotel, venues, and in your welcome bags. Ice at our official wedding venues is completely safe and made from purified water.

Things to Do

Guatemala is a country filled with so much history, culture, and nature. Dive deep into the Mayan roots of the country, hike to the summit of an active volcano, or explore the various flavours of the cuisine. We want this to be a trip you'll remember, so here are a few suggestions to help you make the most of your time in Guatemala.

Volcán de Fuego erupting at night with glowing lava flows

Volcán Acatenango & Fuego

WhereLa Soledad Village, Acatenango, Chimaltenango, Guatemala

Hike up 3,976 m to reach the summit of one of the most famous volcanoes in Central America. Once you reach basecamp, you have the opportunity to push yourself further and hike to the ridge of Volcán de Fuego and witness its eruptions up close and personal. This is a 1.5-day experience, as you'll be sleeping on an active volcano to enjoy the lava at night and the sunrise the next day. Most tours kick off from Antigua!

Antigua Coffee Tour

WhereInterior Of Finca Filadelfia, Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala · +502 7728 0800

Guatemala is known for its local coffee, which is why we highly recommend going on a coffee tour to better understand the process. While there are many options available, Finca Filadelfia has a coffee plantation on site and takes you on a step-by-step journey from picking the fruit to taking that soothing sip of a fresh cup of coffee. To book the tour, simply send them a Facebook message or an email at hotel@filadelfiaresort.com.

Guatemalan chocolate tour

Chocolate Tour

Where4a calle poniente #8, Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez 03001, Guatemala · +502 7832 9092

You haven't tasted authentic cacao until you've come to Guatemala. The northern parts of the country are stunning landscapes where cacao trees grow. Tourists think they know what hot chocolate is, but Guatemalan hot cacao takes them by storm each time. ChocoMuseo La Antigua has a tour that teaches you how the local chocolate is made and allows you to get your hands dirty and make your own chocolate to take home.

Lake Atitlán, Guatemala

Trip to Lake Atitlán

WherePanajachel, Lago Atitlán, Sololá, Guatemala

Lago Atitlán is a magical lake cradled between 4 volcanoes that was formed tens of thousands of years ago by a volcanic eruption. It is now inhabited by two main Mayan ethnic groups: Tz'utujil and Kaqchikel. There are 14 major towns and villages that surround the lake, each with their own distinct characteristic. From different textiles that make their traditional clothing, to different dialects and street art, each village deserves a visit.

Tikal ruins, Petén, Guatemala

Trip to Tikal

WhereTikal National Park, Petén, Guatemala

Hidden in the northern part of Guatemala, about a 40-minute flight or a 10-hour drive from Antigua, lies an area filled with howler monkeys, tropical forests, and ancient ruins. As far as it may be located, Petén is a department in Guatemala that is worth seeing if you have the time to squeeze it into your itinerary.

The towns in Petén are located around Lago Petén Itzá, which is a special lake for the locals and the wildlife in the area. Embrace the colourful island of Flores, experience the hospitality of the locals in El Remate, and explore the lost wonders of Tikal's ancient Mayan ruins.
